DO MORE WITH A MONO – CREATING A RE-USABLE SALES OFFICE TO SAVE MONEY & EMISSIONS
When developers in Kelowna, B.C. wanted a new way to do a sales center, they turned to DROP Structures and their Mono Mini.
“A lot of capital goes into sales centers that are only used for a short period,” Ryan Cohen, one of the developers of The Orchard In The Mission said. “This creates loss leaders which are ultimately torn down or sold at a great loss.”
Instead of simply following in the footsteps of other developers, Ryan set out to find a different solution – something that would be more cost-effective, and less wasteful while still offering a premium experience for buyers.
Finding a Mono that can do it all
The requirements for the building meant that a bespoke option was out of the question, as it would not offer the flexibility the team wanted. However, most off-the-shelf options were out as well, as few offered the premium feel the team wanted.
While the searching went on, the answer presented itself one day as Ryan was idly scrolling through social media.
“We saw a DROP Structure’s post on Instagram and reached out,” Ryan said. “The DROP Structure’s team responded the same day. Put simply, they get it.”
Once connected, the DROP Structures team walked Ryan and the team through his choices and helped them choose and customize a Mono that was perfect for their application.
“The Drop Structures team is extremely competent, vibrant and an absolute pleasure to work with.”

Three weeks after that initial call, the Mono was on-site and ready to open its doors to their first customers. After weeks of welcoming people through its doors, the Mono continues to impress The Orchard team and each buyer who visits.
“It’s exactly what we wanted and is a valuable feature in our sales approach,” Ryan said. “The quality is exceptional and it was easy to install.”
A second life as a cabin
Once the Mono’s done working as a sales office, Ryan plans to recycle it by using it to as an accommodation on his resort on Vancouver Island.
The Mackenzie Beach Resort, near Tofino B.C., features both traditional cabins and trendy renovated Airstream trailers, giving the resort a fun, off-beat vibe that caters to the surfers who frequent the area. The Mono, with its distinctive livery removed, will offer a stylish place to stay for tourists and surfers who are looking for something different.
The Mono is only part of Ryan’s plans for the resort. He recently took possession of the resort and invited an on-brand fun restaurant, Lil Ronnies BBQ, into the area and added a new General Store cafe and bar.
And now, after working with DROP Structures to create The Orchard sales office, Ryan hopes to add new sleeping arrangements to his resort with extra DROP Structures.
“Our vision is to one day soon deploy a host of DROP Structures at the resort to use them as accommodations to compliment what we have currently and where we see ourselves going. Our hope is that these DROP units will provide cozy, well built, unique and elegant accommodations in the best place in BC.”
