OUR TOP 5 DELIVERIES OF 2022
It’s the end of the year once again, and our headquarters are quiet – Monos, Duos and Holos sit in various states of construction waiting for the new year and new work. Meanwhile, we’re at home with mugs of hot chocolate and hot coffee reminiscing over last year’s builds.
We can’t quite narrow it down to a linear, top-to-bottom list, but after some discussion, we did agree on a few builds and deliveries that stuck out over the last 365 (or so) days.
So, we’ve added a quick description with a bunch of pictures of our favourites (and a sneak preview of a much-anticipated new structure).
Rancho Moonrise
When we covered Rancho Moonrise on the blog, it wasn’t quite finished yet. Since we left, they’ve added so much color and fun to the resort that it retroactively became one of our favorite builds of the year.
If you want to watch the Monos go in, and hear from the owners, watch our Youtube video about the installation.
Smoke Jumper
We’ve covered Tim Hurlbut’s Smoke Jumper Resort on our Youtube channel, but we haven’t featured it on the blog yet. We may have to rectify that in the new year, as the resort (which is near the Boise National Forest) has turned into a quiet hideaway in the woods.
The project, which Tim documented on his own Youtube channel started with an old, decrepit trailer park near Idaho City. Now, 6 Holos are nestled into the trees on the property, offering guests a relaxing cabin to stay.
Find Sanctuary
Find Sanctuary was a dream build for us. A new, blank-sheet design, this project allowed us to stretch our creativity and approach a build from a totally new direction. So, instead of the usual carbon black siding, we used cedar cladding to create a natural feel. And instead of the steep gables of the Mono or Duo, we leaned into that SoCal style with a flat roof. We think the result is stunning, especially in its desert home.
Creating entirely new designs and floor plans that meet clients’ needs is a significant challenge, but the payoff is well worth it. After this successful project, we are looking forward to our next custom build.
Favia Erickson
This is not our first unit on the Favia Erickson winery, and that’s what makes it so special. We met Andy Erickson two years ago when he contacted us to source an office for his growing winery/vineyard in Napa, California. Since then, his office workforce has continued to expand, outstripping the space he has available once again. So, when he needed another office on his vineyard, he came back to us and ordered another Mono which he placed with a view of one of his vineyards.
Glacier Retreat
We’ve known Drew and Jenn Bailey for a couple of years now. We first met them in 2020, when Drew was turning his wife, Jen’s dream, forever-home property into an Airbnb (which you can read about on the blog). They wanted a quick, easy prefab building that would draw people to the property and emphasize the views. So, they bought a Holo and a Mono. The first Airbnb worked so well that a year later they decided to buy a third and then a fourth (the first, brand new Arlo), and hired Lisa, our in-house interior designer, to finish off the interior.
A Sneak Peak: The New, Improved Arlo
We can’t share a ton of Arlo photos with you yet, but we can share this one, and promise a closer look next year when we get a photographer out there.
Runner’s Up
Sometimes, when we deliver a DROP Structure, the space around it captures us and we find ourselves hoping something comes up so we can stay for just a little longer and take it all in. We dug through all available photos to give you an idea of…
